Acrylic and Chinese ink painting with 24K gold on canvas
A masterful painting by virtue of its size, 141 x 92 cm, the use of 24 carat gold leaf and the codes of Balinese society that Satya Cipta shatters. This painting depicts a Hindu woman who is on her way to the temple to pray. However, Satya Cipta reinterprets good and evil, represented by two snake heads on the left, which suggest good and bad Karma.
We can also see the central character stepping on the head of an elderly person and carrying offerings that are decaying. Through these acts, Satya Cipta seeks to depict the hypocrisy of a woman, apparently pious, but who actually embodies the darkest side of human nature.
